Christmas donation in aid of Arka Foundation

On Friday, 23 December, 2011, Michael Grech Financial presented a money donation to Mgr. Emanuel Curmi, in aid of Arka Foundation. The amount of €700 was collected during the year 2011, from donations of clients at Michael Grech Financial and donations from the staff.

The donation was presented to Mgr. Emanuel Curmi by the directors of the company, Michael and Anna Grech, at the premises of Michael Grech Financial, at the Brokerage, in Victoria, Gozo.

Mgr. Emanuel Curmi, the director of Arka Foundation appreciated the act of the generosity and thanked the company and the staff for the donation and for the organisation of regular events by the company in aid of the Arka Foundation.

Yearly Summer Social Event

As a yearly social event Michael Grech Financial organised a BBQ event this summer in aid of the Arka Foundation. This has become an important social commitment in the calendar of social events at Michael Grech Financial Investment Services based in Gozo and Malta.

The BBQ was organised for all the volunteers of Arka Foundation who work all year round to help this voluntary, non-profit making and non-governmental organisation that promotes the welfare of people with special needs and of their families. The food and service were provided by the team at Michael Grech Financial.

The event was a success and all the guests were delighted with the food and the good organisation. Mgr Emanuel Curmi, the director of the Arka Foundation thanked all the guests and Michael Grech Financial management and employees for their continuous support.

Michael Grech, the managing director of Michael Grech Financial said that all the team members were happy to spend time helping the community and the Arka Respite Centre.

BBQ event in aid of Arka Respite Centre

As part of the company's yearly social events, Michael Grech Financial Investment Services organised a barbeque, to treat all the volunteers of Arka Foundation in Gozo.

The Arka Foundation is a voluntary, non-profit and non-government organisation that promotes the welfare of people with special needs and of their families. “Your generosity is what keeps us going to help our dear ones with special needs ”, said  Mgr Emmanuel Curmi, Director of the Arka Foundation as he addressed the invites while thanking Mr Michael Grech, the Managing Director, for sponsoring the event.

The employees of Michael Grech Financial based at the head office in Gozo and at the branch office in Malta teamed up to prepare the food and drinks for this charitable event. “Investing time to actively help the community is a priority of the company and the event’s success will guarantee that it will become part of our calendar of social events”, commented Mr Grech as he thanked his team and all the people that help support the Arka Foundation. 

Activity on Awareness on Child Labour

On June 18^th the Year 4, 5 and 6 of Laura Vicuna School in Ghasri Gozo took part in a half day activity to discuss the issue of Child Labour. Mr. David Grech from the Scout Association of Malta organized the activity which consisted of a discussion where all the students tried to create a picture of what child labour is. All the kids took their turn to fill in the mosaic that was being created with the jobs associated with child labour, the ages, the reasons and the location.  June 12^th marked the international day against child labour and since this year it coincided with the 2010 FIFA World Cup the theme was ‘Show a Red Card to Child Labour’.

After the discussion the group took part in a game called ‘The knot of Unity’ by which groups of ten formed a circle, grabbed hands with others in the circle (except with the persons next to them) and without letting go of the hands try to unravel the knot. This activity was aimed to highlight the unity that kids need to have while working towards one goal.

Finally the day ended with the kids mixed up in fourteen groups and each having to draw up, using poster colours, pens and paintbrushes, a slogan or banner to show their resolve against Child Labour.

This event was organized by the Scout Association of Malta and sponsored fully by Michael Grech Financial Investment Services Ltd and Temprina Stationery shop.
